Hello and welcome to the Pelvic Floor Connection, the podcast that lifts the lid on a mysterious and misunderstood matters of all things pelvic floor and core health, helping you to better connect with the power of your pelvic floor with me, Sarah Jane West Watson.

Sarah Jane00:00:26 - 00:01:56

Hello and welcome. Welcome to today's episode of the Pelvic Floor Connection with me, Sarah Jane. And I am so excited to be back in your ears and I apologize for what has been a little unexpected. Unsched your gap and I'm going to share with you a little bit of what's been going on in my world, what I have learned and how that is shaping the fit Fanny Adams Pelvic Floor Connection world going forwards, what that means for you lovely amazing ladies, which is quite exciting. So what's been going on in my world? So I have, I kind of alluded last year to quite a lot going on in my world, but not a lot of detail. So for those of you who are in my monthly members hub, as it is currently known, spoiler alert. Then you will now know that my husband has been taking part in an amazing adventure, the world's toughest row. So he has rode as part of a two man team from the Canaries all the way west, 3,000 miles to the Caribbean, which was a journey that took 47 days, one hour and one minute to be precise, with a huge amount of preparation and a lot of teamwork.

Sarah Jane00:01:56 - 00:03:26

We said this is a team decision, a team event as a family. So this has taken a huge, you know, only 18 months of planning, preparation and it has just completed. So I took the family out to meet him when he arrived in English harbour, Antigua on the 27th of January, which was incredible. But what I learned along the way is we kind of went into December, which is a challenging time for many of us, particularly if we're juggling, juggling families and be that not just necessarily younger families, but generations above as well as generations below and the broader family and friends circle. It can be so challenging to keep expectations, to keep financials of Christmas, to keep all of this kind of shebang going on. And whilst I was doing that, trying to keep two young children kind of okay with being without daddy and daddy been away do something quite immense and quite scary was a lot. So we, it was a case of let's review, let's review. And I think what was really interesting, I said to people, you know, I, I've strategically dropped a number of balls and just sort of rested them.

Sarah Jane00:03:26 - 00:04:47

I think it's probably fair to say over that time I recognized what was a metaphorical glass ball that I was juggling. And actually what was. What was not glass, what was a wooden ball or what was a bouncy ball, and kind of yet it would drop and it would take effort to raise it back up again, but it was okay to drop. And it was really important that I recognize what were my glass balls, metaphorically speaking, which essentially my family, my health, because I knew that my health had to stay paramount in order then for the family to be okay. And so I made a number of strategic decisions, and one of which was, unapologetically, I went kind of a little bit silent from the outside world. So I know that quite a few of you haven't received an email from me recently, and the podcast hasn't been loaded, updated for a little while. But it had to happen in order for me to thrive through that period and to actually get to the other end of that period stronger and grown, and there's a family more connected. And I'm really proud of those decisions and that time because it was just incredible.

Sarah Jane00:04:48 - 00:06:04

And whilst, you know, it was an amazing achievement that my husband's done actually for us on the ground, getting through from, from the spectator side was also not easy. And we have learned and grown and become so much more stronger in ways that I had no idea going into that. And so, you know, as part of my kind of professional training, I'm a huge believer in reflection. And what are we learning? The so what of what's just happened? Because ultimately, we are a result of every single experience that we have ever, ever been a part of or being exposed to. And therefore, if we're going to do something that crazy, if we're going to go to those dark places, those challenging times, those standing on the brink of the precipice, thinking, what are we going to learn from it? Because by heck, it would be amazing if we could take some takeaways. And I have to say, one thing that I found really interesting in these two weeks since, you know, he stepped on to Terra Therma, and I was like, oh, my God, he's safe. I find it really hard to, to, to find that, to feel that, well, what's, you know, what's been in it for me, but. Which I don't mean quite as it came out, but.

Sarah Jane00:06:05 - 00:07:22

And I was starting to question not where my mojo was, but, but how I was going to implement what I, what I'd learned. And I think over these last few days and, and the week and talking to some amazing clients and thank you for the time and the support and effort and kindness and love that you guys have shown me is. I really understand now so deeply. And I understood it before, but I think now having. I feel like I've walked the walk on a different level. The requirements that we need to take, particularly as women when we are looking after and we are caregivers for those around us, the real requirement to ruthlessly scrutinize our values, our strategy, what we're actually doing to, to align ourselves with those values and to thrive and flourish as we move through these places where we know that we aren't in that place of flow, in that place of man. Everything I'm feeling exactly where I want to be. It's all going swimming.

Sarah Jane00:07:22 - 00:08:28

You know, when, you know, when you're with the tide and everything's like, woohoo. I'd love to say that life is always like that, but it isn't always like that. And I think I really understood actually what it takes to swim against that tide. Sometimes when you have to swim against the tide, you suddenly found yourself in a, in a rip, you suddenly find yourself in a place of challenge and you have to work out, right, how am I going to swim against this? This is going to be tough, but it's totally doable. But what do I need in my back, in my bag of kit bag? I kind of call it emotionally, physically and mentally to get through what is going to be brutally challenging. And you know, the degree brutally challenging doesn't necessarily have to be something extreme, just that it could be challenging your journey through the menopause, it could be just kind of going, I just don't want to feel like this anymore. I just feel like I've lost me and I some. I think that this journey that I've been on in tandem with, you know, physically, what that's meant to me is physically I've not been able to be as physical as I normally love to be.

Sarah Jane00:08:28 - 00:09:59

You know, I've had to really change how I've done my exercise. What is important as my exercise, which is really a lot more around that mindful movement, that movement with my meditation. And so what I've learned from that, I'm really, really excited to be redelivering that out to yourselves alongside all of the core and the pelvic floor restoration work even more so in a bigger picture. So there's going to be more details coming out, but I'm really, really excited to drop a little teaser out around my Flourish program. So for those of you who know I have a membership program where we have our weekly classes, our core and public floor strengthening classes. Come and join me in that if you'd like to. It is fitfunnyadams.com forward/members hub that gets you into the monthly subscription where you can join, live and access everything on demand. However, the Flourish Transformation Program, that is going to be an ongoing, deeper mentorship program designed to really get, get you to be fully aligning to your, your purpose, to be really thriving and owning your body, to really understand exactly how to get back to feeling strong and connected with you in wellness and beyond.

Sarah Jane00:09:59 - 00:10:46

So we're going to really deep diving into into menopause. We're going to be really deep diving into our nourishment. We're going to really be deep diving, diving into what your vision and values actually are and we're going to be using that as a basis of a coaching and mentorship program. We're going to be working deeply with you using Lights of Voice Up Voice app, what's Notes. There we go. See WhatsApp voice notes. And we're going to be doing deep educationals every month as sort of our theme. And from that we're going to have specific goals and we're going to keep shaping and building and bespoke the program to make sure that you are becoming more aligned and empowered within yourself to really flourish and thrive.

Sarah Jane00:10:46 - 00:12:10
